I’ve always fancied myself an incredibly thoughtful boyfriend. Last year I gave my girlfriend several photo cards for valentines day and a variety of different boxes of chocolate. I even got her a couple of jackets and shawls, only one of which she had to return. She’s always been really impressed that I can pick out clothes for her, because in her whole life she’s never had a boyfriend that’s been able to do this. This year I’m probably going to get her some personalized stationery, but I haven’t made up my mind just yet.

The other day we were having dinner and she told me that she had spoken to one of her cousins earlier that morning. She said it’d been about five years since they talked, because back then they had gotten into some trouble and both of their parents didn’t want to see each other anymore. But now they’re grown adults and they have kids of their own, and she was telling me about the baptism invitations that she received. Apparently we were going to attend this thing so I decided to go out and buy a new suit. She said that this wouldn’t be necessary but I told her that I’ve been looking for any reason to buy one, so that’s what I was probably going to do.
